Having a son with Autism and ADHD is a plethora of tasks in and of itself. My son Elijah has autism, or Autism Spectrum disorder coupled with ADHD and many other developmental and Neurological disorders bunched into one. The "spectrum" can cross many different diagnosis types, conditions and symptoms.
The first step for any parent with a Special Needs Child is to know your child! You cannot help them first without knowing their quirks, what makes them tick, how they communicate and react to things. Then you will notice what seems out of place. Follow your gut and be okay with having a special needs child. It is okay. You all will be okay. Once you get these things emotionally and mentally in order, you an advocate for your child.
